Charcoal Chimney Starter

Instructions for Use:

1. Fill the bottom portion with newspaper or store-bought firestarters. 

2. Fill the top portion with lump charcoal, briquettes, wood chunks, or your other preferred wood-based fuel. 

3. Use a small amount of lighter fluid on the charcoal or wood, if desired. 

4. Using a match or barbeque lighter, light the newspaper or firestarter in the bottom of the chimney. The flame will rise up into the charcoal or wood, and the fire will become self-sustaining within the chimney. 

5. Let the chimney sit for 10 to 15 minutes until the charcoal or wood is covered with white ash. It's important to wait for this - that's when the charcoal's temperature has stabilized at a steady heat, resulting in a much more consistent cooking temperature. 

6. Dump the contents of the chimney into a neat pile in your grill's charcoal pan. Keep them in a pyramid shape for a hotter burn to sear a steak, or evenly spread them out to cool the cooking temperature down just a bit, perfect for grilling chicken, pork or veggies.
